Our Animalesque Visiting School 2019, embedded in the Climate Care program at the Floating University in Berlin took place from 1 – 10 August. During these ten days, 14 participants got engaged into the design and construction of a giant bird nest, made out of branches we got from a productive forest in Brandenburg. Accompanied by lectures, debates, excursions and performances the nest developed into a natural, responsive sculpture, embedded in the water and reeds of the Floating University basin. For our 2019 School in Berlin we established a collaboration with Floating University e.V.. Our program will be in symbiosis with the Climate Care festival program, from 1 – 10 August at the Floating University water-basin. Join us for nest building, field trips, debates and performances and build new relations with urban nature. Participants can also join in all other Climate Care events. Find more information on the Climate Care webpage.
After our focus on insects in 2018, Visiting School 2019 will extend to birds. More information will follow soon.
We would also like to thank everyone who contributed to our 2018 programme. It was amazing to experience the interest and energy generated by you all, coming together in the Visiting School in Berlin last August. We look forward to keep working together in 2019!
Recently we were running a three week Seminar at TU Berlin – CHORA Conscious City, in which 24 students were working in groups to create nesting structures for bees, using natural fiber rope and bees wax. The six nesting structures are now placed in the garden at AEDES Architekturforum and soon our beekeeper Erika Mayr will help us with getting the prototypes occupied by bees. Find images of the Seminar here.
