How can we create city oasis for the many species living alongside us?
Animalesque Visiting School is aiming to understand and experience the Animal Kingdom in the urban and cultural space of Berlin.
In order to understand how people and animals co-habit, we will investigate the collective behaviours of a wide range of animals from insects, birds and mammals, their patterns of displacement and territorial domains in the city. We will design and build 1:1 scale installations to create responsive ecosystems and study pollination of different species. Sensorial augmentation will help us to dive into the hidden and unexpected layers of the animal world. Read more details about the features and objectives of the Visiting School 06 – 17 August here.
Ultimately, our aim is to re-consider the role of design and how architecture can positively contribute to the creation of an urban ‘Animalesque Utopia’.
